Dr. Heather Smith, Au.D., founded Desert Sound Audiology in St. George, Utah, in 2025 with a vision to provide exceptional, patient-centered hearing care in a supportive and pressure-free environment. Dedicated to helping individuals achieve better hearing and improved quality of life, Dr. Smith combines advanced diagnostic technology with compassionate, personalized care. She provides comprehensive hearing evaluations and takes the time to clearly explain results, empowering patients to make informed decisions about hearing solutions tailored to their needs, lifestyle, and budget.

With more than seven years of experience in a high-volume audiology clinic, Dr. Smith has extensive expertise in caring for patients of all ages. She previously served as the supervising pediatric audiologist for Southern Utah, overseeing the region’s newborn hearing screening program and ensuring early identification and intervention for hearing loss.

Dr. Smith’s passion for improving hearing health extends beyond her local community. She participated in humanitarian outreach missions to Peru and Mexico, where she provided hearing care and fit donated hearing aids for individuals with mild to profound hearing loss, helping expand access to essential audiology services in underserved communities.

Dr. Smith earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders in 2012 and her Doctor of Audiology degree in 2018, both from Idaho State University. She completed her clinical residency at St. Luke’s Elks Hearing and Balance in Idaho’s Treasure Valley, where she gained specialized experience in vestibular assessments and auditory brainstem response (ABR) evaluation and interpretation.

A proud resident of St. George, Dr. Smith enjoys life in Southern Utah with her husband, Jeff, and their family. As the mother of seven children and grandmother of two, she values meaningful relationships and community connection. Outside the clinic, she enjoys playing guitar, hiking, kayaking, and bicycling through the beautiful landscapes of Southern Utah.
